Thinking of buying a new bike? One of your first decisions, and not necessarily an easy one, will be where to shop. It can be a challenge: so many different stores carry bikes, from specialist retailers, to giant department stores, to car accessory shops

Birmingham City Cycles is not part of a faceless chain. 

All of us ride, almost everyday of the year, come rain, hail and of course shine. 

We have a simple philosophy when it comes to building your bike.  We build it as if it was our own.  If it is not good enough for us, it certainly is not good enough for you.

What you won’t see in our store is Bicycle Shaped Objects  (BSOs) 

You know what I mean: cheap, nasty bikes with plastic brakes and bouncy “dual suspension”. 

Believe it or not, some bikes sold in major chain stores are NOT SAFE and could put your life at risk. 

Ever wondered why some BSO’s are cheaper than a pair of good shoes?

Remember if it is not good enough for us, then it is certainly not good enough for you.

We are not interested in just sending bikes out of the door. Every single bike we sell will be tailored to its new owner, whether it is a budget hybrid for riding to work and in the park at weekends, or a high performance mountain bike or a race-winning road bike. 

Time will be taken with you for test rides, and setting handlebars and saddles to suit. If you feel some things need changing we will certainly take the time to customise your new steed.
We take the time to get to know our customers, and many have become good friends who we see 3 or 4 times a week.

If performance is your interest:

All our customers looking to buy one of our competition bikes (Road or MTB) will be measured and have a bike tailor-fitted to you and your requirements.  We believe this is important as a good quality bike is an investment and we really want to see you enjoy it.

  Remember every bike we build is a custom build.  Don’t like the saddle we will change it . Prefer Campagnolo or SRAM to Shimano – No problems we will change it Upgrade the Wheels?  Sure!  We carry wheels from Mavic and Bontrager that will improve any bike.

Remember, we ride out with our customers on the road twice a week, so we know if something is not perfect and our team is always on hand to sort things out for you. 

All our new bikes come with 12 months of FREE service and we have been known to spend hours chasing little niggles to ensure perfection.  As we are not part of a chain we can listen to your needs and work with you to achieve the ride you have always wanted.
